Jeep’s Electrifying 2025: What to Expect
Jeep has big plans for 2025. Known for its rugged design and off-road capabilities, the brand is preparing to move decisively into the electric vehicle (EV) market. Over the course of the coming year, several new models and variants of existing ones will hit showrooms. New CEO Antonio Filosa briefed the media about his ambitious plans for the brand, aiming to increase market share and performance. Here’s a closer look at what you can expect from Jeep during the 2025 model year. If you have questions or want to learn more, we’d be happy to assist you at Bettenhausen Automotive.
New Models and Technologies

One of the most exciting developments from Jeep is the release of the all-new Wagoneer S EV. Accompanying this new model will be some tech upgrades to existing lines and a second all-new electric vehicle, the Jeep Recon. As the entire auto market shifts sharply in the direction of battery-powered vehicles, Jeep is leading by example and showcasing its innovation. In the process, it’s hoping to win new fans and retain its loyal base of customers who love the brand’s utility vehicles.
Jeep Wagoneer S
The name Wagoneer has a familiar ring to it, but this is an entirely new vehicle. The Wagoneer S is much more compact than its larger SUV namesake. Capable of churning out 600 horsepower, it’s powered by an all-electric powertrain rather than a gas-powered engine. Jeep expects that the new EV can cover over 300 miles on a single charge. What’s more, it can dash from zero to 60 mph in a remarkable 3.4 seconds, the fastest time achieved by any Jeep ever. Fans of Jeep’s style will be happy to see a modern interpretation of the iconic seven-spoke grill.
The launch-edition trim that’s hitting showrooms in late 2024 includes a panoramic sunroof and a remarkable 45 inches of touch-screen real estate in the front to control your infotainment options. The Wagoneer S has plenty of space to accommodate five passengers over two rows and rides on 20-inch wheels. In the coming months, we expect Jeep to release lower-level trims that will suit buyers on a more modest budget. The starting MSRP for the initial run of the Wagoneer S is $70,795, making it a great choice if you’re in the market for a luxury EV.
All-wheel drive is standard in the Wagoneer S, which features electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles. There are five driving modes that let you tailor performance to the terrain you’re covering. These include Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow, and Sand. As you can see, Jeep’s EV transition in no way means that it’s giving up on its core strength of building off-road-capable vehicles. The Wagoneer S can tow a maximum of 3,400 pounds, giving you enough power to haul a small pop-up camper or a trailer for your next DIY job.
Jeep Recon
The 2025 Jeep Recon will follow the Wagoneer S as the brand’s second all-electric vehicle on the market. We’re expecting it to arrive in showrooms at the end of this year, and there’s still some information about it that we don’t know. Jeep has already revealed that it will be a two-row SUV in the midsize range with heavy influences from the gas-powered off-roading Wrangler. The preview vehicle features a spare tire mounted at the rear and a power-folding roof, allowing you to continue experiencing the thrill of off-roading but with an all-electric motor.
We’ll update you as soon as we know more about the Recon, including its expected horsepower output and additional off-roading features. We’re also looking forward to learn how Jeep outfits the interior, which will have room for five people. In keeping with the cutting-edge tech in the Wagoneer S, we’re expecting a wide range of infotainment features to be offered in the Recon EV.
4xe Plug-In Hybrids
In addition to the all-new Recon and Wagoneer S, Jeep is planning to expand the availability of its 4xe variants of existing vehicles. The 4xe label indicates that the model has a plug-in hybrid powertrain, giving you the advantage of some all-electric driving range and a gas-powered engine that kicks in when needed.
So far, the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee have been available as 4xe models. These two midsize SUVs cater to different customer types, with the iconic Wrangler leading the way when the pavement ends and the Grand Cherokee offering decent off-roading with a more street-focused performance. In the coming year, we’re also expecting the compact Gladiator pickup to get a 4xe variant. This would be great news if you want to reduce emissions while gaining the flexibility of a vehicle with a spacious cargo bed.
Market Strategy and Updates
Jeep’s main goal for the coming years is to expand its market share during the EV transition. Over the past five years, the brand has seen a slow decline in its vehicle sales. Responding decisively to this development, Filosa initiated the upcoming release of the EVs we’ve discussed and has appointed a new team tasked with improving quality. Jeep has also lowered the pricing for some of its popular models, including the Gladiator and Grand Cherokee, to make them more attractive to buyers. Overall, the brand is well-placed to take advantage of a wave of new EV sales.
